How to Save Money

If you want to have more money, and you want to be richer, you need to look at areas in your life where you can save money.

The easiest way to do this is to make a list of your income and your spending. Once you see the written reality of where you’re over-spending, it then becomes easy to work out a strategy for budgeting your money.

You might want to spend a month (no pun intended) writing down everything you spend. Or ask for a receipt for everything you buy an take a look through them all at the end of the month. You can then look at the areas of spending where you can cut back and save money fast.

Food is usually one of the main areas where people over-spend. Cutting back on unnecessary groceries isn’t difficult. Just make sure you fill your supermarket trolley with more fresh food and less packaged food, sugary snacks and cakes.

And don’t be fooled by sales and special offers when you are shopping. They are not always the money-savers that they seem to be and you can end up buying things you don’t want and will never use.

You can also save hundreds of dollars every month by taking a packed lunch to work every day instead of buying it. And try not to call in at every coffee shop you see. Do you know, you can save over $1,000-a-year just by buying one less cup of coffee a day?

Having a de-cluttering day at home is a great way to release the money that’s tied up in things you no longer need or use. You could have a garage sale, sell items in the local classified ads or on eBay.

Just challenge yourself to spend less.

There’s an old saying that “a penny saved is a penny earned.”

So start earning money by spending less each day. Because as soon as you begin, you’re on the way to Getting Rich Slowly.
